Membership requirements

The APS offers a range of membership grades to cater for the broad range of people involved in the discipline and profession of psychology and to reflect the steps along the way to achieving full membership.

The specific requirements of each grade – Student Subscriber, Affiliate, Associate Member and Member - are generally based on an applicant’s level of tertiary education in psychology. Applicants must be qualified in, or studying, university courses accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC), though some non-standard routes to membership are available.

In addition, the grades of Fellow and Honorary Fellow recognise nominated individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the discipline of psychology.
